Folk Musician Sky Smeed and Prairie Artist Angela Muller will be featured in the upcoming 2nd Annual Underground Series

[Norton, KS] The Norton County Arts Council (NCAC) will kick off its 2nd Annual Underground Series at the Historic Heaton building located at 112 S State Street starting on January 25th, 2020. The first event in the Underground Series will feature a gallery exhibit by Angela Muller followed by live music by musician/songwriter Sky Smeed.

NCAC is proud to bring back the Underground Series, a winter music series featuring live music and art, to downtown Norton. On January 25th, the artist reception will begin at 6 pm with light appetizers and drinks on the main level of the Heaton building in the Gloria Nelson Cultural Arts Center. Attendees of the opening night reception will have the opportunity to meet Angela Muller and learn how she creates her paintings using raw materials sourced from the Kansas prairies. Following the opening, attendees will then move to the basement level of the Heaton building at 7 pm to listen to live Americana/folk music by Sky Smeed, originally from Chanute, Kansas.  Single tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at https://ncartscouncil2020.bpt.me/ . A limited number of tickets will be available at the door due to limited space capacity.

“If you can catch a live show you better do it. Sky has the ability to take a song he has played on stage a hundred times and make it better. I don’t know how this works or how it is possible. I have never witnessed even a hint of burnout or boredom in Sky’s performances or recordings. He sings his crowd-pleasing songs which we have come to know and love as if they were newly rediscovered old friends. This is not a slick and polished veneer like we hear from pop tunes out of Nashville, but the soulful patient nurturing of a master who seems himself to sometimes be surprised when he is singing a piece of his heart and his Guild guitar is in perfect tune.  ” — Jack Hofman, Poet
